Cookie Policy
Short answer: the only item vegastars-casinos.nz stores itself is a local-storage key showing that you closed the cookie notice; Cloudflare may add short-lived security cookies. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are used. When the site’s font loads, Google receives your IP address. Casino links lead to sites that set their own cookies.
This page lists the cookies and similar technologies used on vegastars-casinos.nz: what each one does, how long it lasts and how to block or delete it. “We” means the publisher of vegastars-casinos.nz, which covers the Vega Stars casino for readers in New Zealand. Visitors have no accounts, logins or payments on this reading guide, so it needs very little storage on your device. Your use of the site is also subject to its terms of use.
What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and send back on later requests. Local storage works in a similar way, except that the data stays in your browser and is not sent to the server with each request. Cookies set on the domain you are visiting are first-party. Those set by another domain whose files the page loads are third-party. This policy covers all three.
Cookies and storage used on this site
| Name | Set by | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| vs_ck_ok | vegastars-casinos.nz | Local storage, essential | Remembers that you pressed OK on the cookie notice, so it does not reappear on every page. Holds the value “1” and nothing else. | Until you clear site data in your browser |
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare, on our domain | Cookie, essential (security) | Helps Cloudflare tell human visitors from automated bots. Set only when Cloudflare’s bot protection is active. | Expires after 30 minutes of inactivity |
| cf_clearance | Cloudflare, on our domain | Cookie, essential (security) | Records that your browser passed a Cloudflare security check, so you are not asked again on the next page. | 30 minutes (Cloudflare default) |
| Analytics | None | No cookie at present | Visit statistics come from aggregated server and network data. | Not applicable |
| Google Fonts request | fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com | Network request, no cookie | Delivers the site’s typeface. Google receives your IP address and browser details. | Not applicable |
Essential storage
The cookie notice key and the Cloudflare cookies are needed to keep the site secure and to remember a choice you made. We do not use them to identify you or for advertising. If you block them, pages still load, but the cookie notice will come back on each visit and you may be asked to complete a security check more often.
Because nothing optional is set, the notice at the bottom of the page has a single OK button. Pressing it hides the notice and saves the vs_ck_ok key. If you ignore it, the notice simply stays on screen.
Anonymous analytics
We measure readership with aggregated figures: page views, referring sites, country-level location and device type. These are produced from server and network records without a tracking cookie, and they reach us as totals that do not identify anyone. If we add an analytics tool that places cookies, it will appear in the table above with its provider and lifetime before it goes live.
Google Fonts
The site’s typeface, Mulish, loads from Google Fonts. To fetch it, your browser connects to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, which passes your IP address, the page address and your browser details (user agent) to Google. Google says the Fonts API does not set or log cookies and that the data it collects is not used to build user profiles or for targeted advertising; its Google Fonts privacy FAQ sets out the details. If you would rather not connect to Google, block those two domains with a content blocker, and the text will display in a standard system font.
Cookies readers never receive
The site runs on WordPress, which sets login cookies only for editorial staff signing in to the administration area. Readers do not use that area. Comments are switched off, so no comment cookies are set either. If you choose to install Vegastars on your phone as a home-screen web app, the files its service worker keeps on your device belong to the operator, not to this site.
When you leave for the casino site
Buttons and links to the Vegastars casino take you away from this site. Before you get there, the click is routed through a link-tracking service; it records that the visit came from vegastars-casinos.nz and can set its own cookies. Once you arrive, the casino website, run by Neptune Projects S.R.L., can set its own cookies too. We have no control over any of these, so the tracking service’s and the operator’s own cookie and privacy notices apply. The browser settings listed below work for them as well. What this site is and is not responsible for is set out in our disclaimer.
How to block or delete cookies
You can refuse or delete cookies at any time in your browser. Clearing “site data” also removes local storage, including the cookie notice key. Menu names change between browser versions, so if a path below does not match, search your browser’s help pages for “clear cookies”.
- Chrome (desktop and Android): Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies to block cross-site cookies; Settings → Privacy and security → Delete browsing data (Clear browsing data in older versions) → Cookies and other site data to remove them.
- Safari on iPhone and iPad: Settings → Apps → Safari (Settings → Safari on older iOS versions) → Advanced → Website Data to remove data for one site, or Clear History and Website Data to remove everything.
- Safari on Mac: Safari → Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data or Clear Data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.
A private or incognito window is another option: cookies and local storage created in it are deleted when you close the window. Blocking every cookie can stop some websites from working, including casino sites that rely on cookies to keep you signed in.
