Vegastars KYC and AML: Verification Documents and Timing
Short answer: verification at Vegastars runs in two levels, and at Level 2 Sumsub checks your identity document. An instant check averages under five minutes; a manual review can take up to 24 hours. Have ready an original photo of a passport, driver licence or ID card (all four corners, no scans), proof of address from the last three months (no Revolut or Wise statements) and, on request, proof of payment. Withdrawals from an unverified account can be held, so verify first.
The Vegastars real money casino pays a New Zealand player only after confirming their identity, their address and, in some cases, their payment method. This page sets out the know-your-customer (KYC) and anti-money-laundering (AML) rules Vegastars publishes in its terms, KYC policy and Help Centre, as they stood on 2 October 2026.
Two verification levels and how long they take
Vegastars splits verification into Level 1 and Level 2. In the pages we read, Level 2 is the identity document check run by the verification provider Sumsub; what Level 1 covers isn’t spelled out. Both levels carry weight, as the referral rules show: a referred friend counts only after passing Level 1 and Level 2.
Instant verification takes under five minutes on average, while manual verification has a published time of 24 hours. Vegastars’ FAQ recommends verifying right after registration so payouts don’t stall, and our Vegastars registration NZ guide places the step ahead of the first deposit.
Documents Vegastars accepts and why they get refused
The table is based on Vegastars’ KYC policy and its Help Centre article on accepted identity documents. Refusals in the right-hand column are the ones those rules lead to directly.
| Document | Accepted | Common reasons for rejection |
|---|---|---|
| Identity (Level 2, through Sumsub) | Passport, driver licence or government ID card, as an original photo with all four corners in frame | A scan, a screenshot, a corner cut off, a document type outside the list |
| Proof of address | Statement from a traditional bank, a utility bill or an official letter, issued recently | A Revolut, Wise or other neobank statement; a document older than three months (KYC policy) or six (Help Centre) |
| Proof of payment: card | Photo of the card with the first six and last four digits showing | The first six or last four digits hidden or unreadable |
| Proof of payment: statement | Statement showing the Vegastars transaction | The Vegastars transaction missing from the uploaded page |
| Source of funds | Requested for large amounts; no published document list | Not published: ask support what it accepts |
Identity document
Both a New Zealand passport and a New Zealand driver licence are on Vegastars’ list. Scans and screenshots are refused, so take a phone photo of the physical document with none of its four corners cropped. Before uploading, check that your account shows exactly the name and date of birth printed on the document.
Proof of address: three months or six
Accepted proof of address is a statement from a traditional, licensed bank, a utility bill or an official letter. Neobank statements, Revolut and Wise among them, don’t qualify; if your income lands in one of those, a power bill or a traditional bank statement will do. The sources disagree on how recent the document has to be: three months in the KYC policy, six in the Help Centre. One dated within the last three months satisfies both.
Proof of payment
If proof of payment is requested, Vegastars will take a card photo with the first six and last four digits visible, or a statement on which the Vegastars transaction appears. Those ten digits are all the rule calls for, so a request for the full card number or security code asks for more than it allows. Keep the card or a statement within reach for each method you use to make a Vegastars deposit.
When Vegastars asks for verification
A document request can come more than once. The KYC policy allows Vegastars to ask whenever its risk assessment requires, and the terms list these specific triggers:
| Trigger | What happens | Source |
|---|---|---|
| A withdrawal from an unverified account | The withdrawal can be held until verification is complete | Terms 12.2 |
| A bonus worth more than €250 | Credited only after verification; check the NZ$ equivalent on the day (welcome stages carry 40x wagering, T&Cs apply) | Terms 11.7 |
| Wins above $10,000 in a day | Additional checks | Terms 12.11 |
| Deposits above €50,000 in a day | Source-of-funds check | Terms 11.8 |
| Large amounts in general | Source-of-funds questions and a liveness check | KYC policy |
| The verification call | If the KYC team can’t reach you within two weeks of a withdrawal request, the account is blocked | Terms 9.9 |
Player feedback reflects these checks. Of the 20 most recent Trustpilot reviews we read, dated 20 May to 7 September 2026, 6 raised verification or documents, and requests for bank statements keep coming up in the withdrawal complaints. Uploading documents before anything is pending takes one cause of delay out of your first Vegastars withdrawal.
AML checks and New Zealand’s rules
Vegastars works under its own KYC policy and the rules of its Tobique Gaming Commission licence. Its published AML threshold is €50,000 of deposits in a day, above which clause 11.8 provides for a source-of-funds check. A liveness check usually compares a live selfie or video with your ID. Vegastars publishes neither its format nor the documents that settle a source-of-funds check, so ask support before sending anything.
Vegastars is operated from outside New Zealand and does not hold a New Zealand licence. In force since 1 July 2026, New Zealand’s AML/CFT Identity Verification Code of Practice 2026 sets identity standards for New Zealand-regulated businesses, the group the country’s future licensed online casinos will join. Measured against Vegastars’ rules, it diverges on three points:
- The Code doesn’t accept a New Zealand driver licence alone; a second item must back it, such as confirmation against the driver licence register or a bank statement. Vegastars takes a driver licence as the identity document by itself, with proof of address as a separate step.
- A RealMe verified identity is allowed under the Code, as is a Kiwi Access Card used with a New Zealand birth or citizenship certificate. Neither appears in Vegastars’ published lists, so plan on a passport or driver licence.
- When the Code relies on a bank statement to support a driver licence, the statement can cover the last 12 months. The three- or six-month limit on proof of address is Vegastars’ own.
An IRD number appears in none of Vegastars’ published document lists. We found no rule that requires one and can’t confirm whether support might ask for it in an individual case.
Where to send your documents
The only place for your documents is the verification section of your account at vegastars12.com, where Sumsub runs the ID check. Don’t send them in reply to an email or message you didn’t ask for, or to any other site trading on the Vegastars name; our page on protecting your Vegastars account explains how to recognise both. As our privacy notice explains, this guide receives no documents. Questions about how the operator stores your files go to [email protected].
Vegastars verification FAQ
How long does Vegastars verification take?
On average the instant check finishes in under five minutes, while manual reviews run up to 24 hours. Large amounts can also bring source-of-funds and liveness checks, for which Vegastars publishes no time.
What happens if I miss the verification call?
Clause 9.9 of the terms gives the KYC team two weeks from a withdrawal request to reach you; if it hasn’t by then, the account is blocked. If a call goes unanswered while a withdrawal is pending, message live chat or email [email protected] yourself without delay.
How do I delete my Vegastars account?
Email a closure request to [email protected] from the address on your account. If gambling is the reason, request self-exclusion too: Vegastars offers 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or permanent, covering every brand of the same licence holder. For the documents the operator holds on you, contact [email protected].
Clauses cited on this page come from the Vegastars terms as read on 2 October 2026. If the operator revises its text, the revised version applies.
